Cow Print cake

This is a simple cow print cake that we made for a little boy’s 2nd birthday. The birthday boy’s mom planned to place her own topper on the patch of ‘grass’ in the center of the cake, and unfortunately we do not have any ‘after’ pics. This is a 12″ 4 layer cake with Mango Tango flavor and buttercream frosting.

Calvin and Hobbes

This was a first for us – a Calvin and Hobbes themed cake. Being ardent fans of the little boy and his sardonic tiger pal, we were very excited in creating this cake. This two-tiered cake that we came up with has a Mango Tango flavor and mango mousse filling with fresh ripe mango chunks folded in. The figures of Calvin and Hobbes and the log they are balancing on are sculpted in fondant.

McQueen and Mater

We made this two-tiered Cars themed cake for a little boy who was turning 4. The Mango Tango cake was done with 10″ and 6″ tiers. McQueen and Mater were non-edible toys and all other toppers were made with fondant.

Penguins on a cake

We made this ice cream cake for the 7th birthday of a dear friend’s daughter. The birthday girl wanted three penguins on the mango flavored ice cream cake. We made the penguins and the snowflakes with fondant, and gave the whole cake a fun wintry vibe. We had no clue how the fondant toppers would hold up on an ice cream cake since moisture is fondant’s worst enemy. We put the toppers on the cake just a couple of hours before the cake was to be served, and thankfully everything stayed intact. Here are some pictures.

Minnie Mouse and Friends

Here is a Minnie and Friends themed cake that we made a few months ago. The cake has a 10″ tier in Strawberry Surprise and a 6″ tier in Mango Tango. The figurines are non-edible and the remaining decorations are made with fondant, including the big bow on top of the cake. Making the bow without getting any cracks on the fondant was a challenge though. Enojy the pictures.
